THE NEW ORDER OF THINGS

For the month of December, artist Jordan Buschur and I show in the two-person exhibit, “Article,” at PLEAT: an online gallery founded by curator, director, educator and artist, Bethanie Irons.

Andrew Ooi, Hole, 2017 | 3.4 x 3.4 x 3.4 inches, 8.6 x 8.6 x 8.6 cm | Gampi chiri paper, acrylic, ink | Jordan Buschur, Stoner, 2017 | 12 x 9 inches, 30.5 x 23 cm | Acrylic on panel

Artworks presented in tandem are sculptures (me) and paintings (Jordan) around the notion of collecting, accumulating, archaeology and meaning. Selection solely from my “Cosmos” series distinguishes my scope to be personal, whereas Jordan’s attribution of painted stacked books, pulled-out drawers and massed shelves are emblematic of society. Among many functions, colour and pattern expose human behaviour, individually, collectively, and remarkably between two artists whose synchronicity is gratefully accredit to PLEAT. (Thank-you!)

“Article” runs from December 1–31, 2018 at www.pleatgallery.com, with interviews of the artists (Jordan and I) posted at www.pleatgallery.com/blog.  Visit www.instagram.com/pleatgallery for exhibition updates, information and the next artful pairing (wine and cheese?!) that will delight. Salut!
